Product Review: American Journey Salmon Oil Supplement for Dogs

My dog says we're excited to share our experience this month as we tested out American Journey Salmon Oil. This supplement for dogs is said to give your pet's skin, coat, and immune system some TLC, as well as keep his joints healthy. We put this elixir to the test on our itchy dog who has battled skin issues since we've had him.

18 ounces may not sound like a lot, but this is a big bottle!

Ingredients:
American Journey Salmon Oil is made with wild-caught Alaskan salmon. It contains Omega 3 fatty acids like DHA and EPA (which helps promote skin and coat health, while also offering relief to dogs with sensitive or itchy skin just like our dog!). The ingredients are simple: salmon oil and a preservative to keep the oil stable.

Usability:
It's recommended that you put the oil on your dog's food, which makes perfect sense since I can't imagine a dog lapping up plain oil on its own. The dosage is one teaspoon for every 10 pounds of weight. Considering this oil is from salmon, it's surprisingly not fishy smelling.

The squeeze bottle is very user friendly and has a no-drip, flip cap. Squeezing out the appropriate amount was no problem at all. Just be sure to shake the bottle real good before each use.

Be sure to use a measuring spoon so you use the proper amount of oil.

American Journey Salmon Oil currently goes for about $15 for an 18 ounce bottle on Chewy.com, but they have a promotion right now where you get your first bottle at 50% off (I don't know how long that promotion lasts, so you should act fast if you want to try out this supplement).

Rating:
Billy definitely has been less itchy since he's started this supplement and he has less dander. His coat even looks healthier. We've been using the salmon oil for a few weeks so far and are confident that Billy will continue to look and feel better in the days to come. Our vote? Four paws up for sure!
